THE MINIMUM SALARY BECOMES BGN 710 FROM APRIL 1
At an extraordinary sitting, the National Assembly adopted at second reading the budget of the State Social Security for 2022. The government estimates that the minimum wage will increase to BGN 710 as of April 1. Since then, the maximum insurance threshold will increase, from BGN 3,000 to BGN 3,400. The final formula for this threshold will be changed in the future.
The amount of the benefit for the second year of maternity leave is also increasing, which will be BGN 710 from April to the end of the year.
The minimum insurance threshold for agricultural producers also changes and from BGN 420 it becomes BGN 710.
From July 1, there will be an update of pensions. The minimum pension will be BGN 370 until the end of June, and then it will become BGN 392.52. The old-age social pension will also increase in the second half of the year and will become BGN 180. It was agreed that disability pensions will be increased from April 1, as people with 100% degree of disability with certain foreign aid will receive 160% of the old-age social pension. So far, this percentage was 135. For people with 91 to 100% reduced working capacity, the state will pay 140% of the old-age pension, and people with disabilities from 71 to 90% will receive 130% of it.
Unemployment benefits are also rising. From April 1, the minimum rate will be BGN 18 per day, and not BGN 12 as before. The maximum amount of compensation is almost BGN 86 per day.
