A BULGARIAN WOMAN BECOMES THE FIRST EU COORDINATOR FOR YOUTH ISSUES

Bilyana Sirakova, a longtime employee of the European Commission, was presented today as the first EU coordinator for youth issues. The aim of her work is to increase cooperation and knowledge sharing in the field of youth among the EC services, explained in a statement on this occasion.

Sirakova will work on employment, education, healthcare, nature, democracy, culture. It will work closely with various youth stakeholders and pass on their messages to the EC. Sirakova's position is new and is part of the commission's proposals for a European Youth Strategy until 2027.

EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Maria Gabriel expected Sirakova's work to contribute to all the commission's policies, including in discussing the future of the EU.
