Entrepreneurship: Techniques for success
PART-TIME ENTREPRENEURS
Part-time entrepreneurship is one of the most difficult tasks for those who want to gain financial freedom, mainly because their day has to be divided into two in order to be able to perform their many tasks. Time is always one of the things we would like to extend, but it is usually the most scarce resource and therefore the most valuable. An entrepreneur may start with a great desire to work to achieve what he has always dreamed of, but lack of organization, stress and family are factors that can affect him.
It is clear that starting your own business requires time and above all money. To achieve financial freedom, you need to find a source of money that allows you to inject capital. This can be somewhat easy. But what to do with the lack of enough time? Here are some tips that can help you manage your time well.
Discover your most productive moments
According to Workmeter time management surveys, which have been updated annually since 2015, of the nine hours or more that people typically have to work, the average reflects that only six hours and 34 minutes are actually worked. That is, they are only in the number of hours in which people are usually really productive. So you need to analyze yourself and know what time of day you feel most able to work and dedicate that amount of hours to your endeavor.
There are people who can easily get up at 4:00 in the morning to work and be energetic and productive until the afternoon. On the other hand, there are those who feel more concentrated at night. It is difficult for them to wake up early and it is even estimated that they need hours to feel able to work, so after six in the afternoon they reach their maximum energy capacity. To find out what your biorhythm is, consider these aspects. Once you've identified your account, organize your work day when you're most productive.
Set smart goals
Set goals like SMART, i.e. they are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound. Instead of "connecting with potential customers", the goal of the SMART type would be "to connect with 20 potential customers by July 30." It is also crucial to have different planning horizons, that is, to set goals each year and divide them into quarters, months and weeks.
In case of monthly goals, the author of the article recommends using MTD (Month to Date). This indicator allows you to know what the purpose of the day is based on the monthly goal. For example, if your goal is to connect with 30 potential customers per month and you are on the 15th of the month, you must have already connected with 15 potential customers because it is already the middle of the month. MTD helps you find out if your progress for the day will allow you to reach your goal at the end of the month or if you need to accelerate.
Avoid working on multiple tasks at once
It is really very valuable that you can develop several tasks at once. This is a skill that few can develop. However, when it comes to two such serious projects, it is best to take a break and take a reasonable amount of time for each one. Set aside hours in which to focus on your main job in the office, but then focus only on your entrepreneurial ideas. Focusing on tasks will allow you to move faster.
Delegate tasks
At first you may be able to do everything yourself, but after a while you will feel infinitely tired. Your endeavor needs to put your heart into the work and for that you need to be in good mental and physical condition, otherwise the project will be delayed even more.
Therefore, the recommendation is to allow yourself to outsource some of the tasks in which you are not an expert, instead of investing your own time in things that are difficult for you. Maybe you need help with the whole marketing plan? Whatever you need and if you have the budget, delegate tasks to professionals to speed up the implementation of your project.
Learn to get organized
As an entrepreneur, you probably don't have time to waste, but that's not the case at all. Suppose you have a flight at 17:00, but it is postponed to 19:00. During this time you can do something. Maybe talk to your client, read more about the companies you want to hire to move your project forward.
On the other hand, you can take advantage of methodologies for your own organization, such as GTD (Getting Things Done). The method was invented by North American productivity consultant David Allen, who claims that memory is inefficient. Unlike other top-down methods, focusing first on life's macro-goals and then on small goals, GTD moves from bottom to top day after day to achieve medium- and long-term goals. For this purpose you can make a list of tasks, separate projects that will take you more time.
Focus on your business
Patience is your best ally when you want to achieve real results. You need to focus so much on your goal that workflow interruptions become less frequent. To do this, you need to forget about your mobile phone and email during the hours when you are most motivated and productive and check them only when you have a break. It is recommended that these breaks be 20 minutes each.
And most importantly - be patient and you will achieve what you dreamed of. Entrepreneurship is full of ups and downs, but no doubt when you work with passion, many of these burdens can be alleviated. Whatever happens, if you have faith in your project, work hard to achieve your dream.
