THERE ARE THREE LEGAL WAYS TO WORK ABROAD

During the summer season, the cases of defrauded Bulgarian citizens who were promised jobs in Sweden and Canada have become more frequent, reports the General Labor Inspectorate.

Unemployed people, mostly of low social and educational status, arrive in Sweden at the invitation of friends or on the Internet with promises of work in construction or picking berries for unrealistically high wages. Arriving in the Scandinavian country, they are forced to work in extremely harsh conditions with very little or no pay.

The General Labor Inspectorate reminds jobseekers abroad that no matter how they leave Bulgaria, they must leave Bulgaria with a written document with agreed terms of work and pay, working hours, vacations, etc.

A sure sign of a scam is asking for various types of placement fees that shouldn't be collected.

"Don't trust ads, especially on social networks," warned Vanya Dzhupanova, an expert at the General Labor Inspectorate. Let's recall the legal ways to work abroad:

- Through an intermediary;

- Through an enterprise that provides temporary work;

- By secondment within the scope of service provision.

When hired by a foreign employer, the General Labor Inspectorate has no right to carry out inspections abroad. Then the employees can only report to the authorities in the respective country.

The licensed intermediaries, as well as the enterprises providing temporary work, are published on the website of the Inspection.

For Bulgarians working abroad, the General Labor Inspectorate maintains a special telephone number where they can seek advice and assistance during working hours: 0035928101747.
